The gorgeous Lauren Silva has decided to share the details of her very special day with us. Having had her first appointment at our Hitchin bridal boutique, Lauren had her heart set on a Novia d’Art gown. Sit back and experience Lauren and Robbie’s magical day.
Planning the wedding and choosing suppliers
For Robbie and I, everything we wanted for our day was to reflect us as a couple; low key, handmade and sentimental. We wanted this personal touch as we were getting married in the grounds where I work and where we first lived together. This extended as far as we wanted all the suppliers to be local to the area and luckily we achieved this. It just felt like because of the convenience, the suppliers seemed more invested with us as couple, which is a nice way to feel.
Finding your dream dress
I found my dress on the first day at Morgan Davies. I naively ignored my instincts and left the shop before booking in several other visits to local stores before coming back to buy in an urgent panic. I think you go expecting a eureka moment, where you burst into tears. For me, it wasn’t like that. I just felt at ease in the dress. It was the only dress I walked around in, stood talking while still wearing. I found with the others as beautiful as they were, I would go straight back into the changing room and onto the next. My advice to other brides would be that it’s ok if you don’t have that magic moment at the fitting, it doesn’t mean it isn’t your perfect dress. You, like me, may not be that girl but when it all comes together and you wear it on the day it counts, you will feel and look the best you ever have.
Bringing family to the bridal appointment
Opinions help but they can cloud your own judgement. I took only my mum with me, which was special for us but always made the impact of the wedding day greater for the wedding party. One final thing, I didn’t realise how the accessories can make the dress, my veil transformed my look and I look back so amazed at the pictures of the whole ensemble and just feel very lucky to think that is me in that outfit.
The finishing touches
Finally, I came in once again to find my veil and Tracey came to the rescue. I didn’t have much idea on veil beyond the length and she suggested a veil to match the nude/champagne undertone to my dress. I didn’t even realise they did nude veils and I can’t explain how perfect it was for the look. I got a lot of comments on my veil, which you don’t expect and it turned out to be one of my favourite parts of the whole appearance of the day.
My mum and I felt at ease during all the appointments and very welcome in Morgan Davies Bridal which made the dress hunt so much more enjoyable. The staff’s suggestions were tailored to not only my body shape but the theme of the wedding and my personal tastes. Thank you to all at Morgan Davies, I would happily recommend you guys to any lucky friends who have the pleasure of becoming a beautiful bride.
